Twitter is back online with increased capacity
Twitter was down for a while earlier today. It was a planned maintenance period which was earlier delayed as they wanted to enable Iranian users to communicate with each other.
Apparently, the US State Department had advised Twitter to stay online the previous day (the scheduled time for the maintenance) to allow activities from users in Iran.
Twitter co-founder Biz Stone wrote in a blog post: “It’s humbling to think that our two-year old company could be playing such a globally meaningful role that state officials find their way toward highlighting our significance.”
He further clarified: “However, it’s important to note that the State Department does not have access to our decision making process.”
The company has also now enhanced their server capacities.
