CA to acquire Wily Technology for $375 million
World’s forth-largest developer of security and storage software solutions CA has announced plans to acquire Wily Technology Inc. The deal would cost them close to USD 375 million and is part of the plans of the company to expand through the route of acquisitions. Willy Technology is based in Brisbane, California and specializes in developing programs that analyze problems in company software applications while they are running.
CA would be paying in cash for this deal and aims to take advantage of the fact that corporate consumers now prefer to deal with fewer supplier of software technologies. The company is still struggling to revive itself from the $2.2 billion fraud it suffered last year and is trying to improve its revenue position in the market to defeat the slowing growth in this sector.
Market experts also believe that bigger companies can acquire smaller specialized software developers and cut costs while expanding their operations and solutions in the market. CA has set its eyes on the growing security and storage software sales and has spent more than USD 1 billion on acquisitions since November 2004. These deals include acquisition of companies like Niku Corp, Netegrity Inc, and Concord Communications Inc.
