Facebook Usernames is on!
Facebook has finally opened their Username service for regular web users to pick their own names.
The service was opened around 10 minutes ago.
We managed to get our preferred usernames. Except for one single name which we believe was pre-reserved.
It was a fun experience looking at the counter and then refreshing the page to quickly grab the best possible username.
Frankly speaking… Facebook made it into a very big deal!
Anyways, the good thing is that their servers survived the initial moments. They had prepared hard for that moment to avoid any hiccups. We think everything went well for them and the users around the world.

Mashable is reporting that 200,000 Usernames were registered in the first 3 Minutes.
