Mac OS X Snow Leopard launch in September
Apple has finally revealed the launch date of their upcoming operating system update.
Mac OS X Snow Leopard would go on sale in September this year. Just a month ahead of Windows 7.
One of the most exciting news is that current Leopard users would be able to upgrade to Snow Leopard for just USD 29!
Apple further said that customers going for a Leopard based Mac would get the upgrade for just USD 10.
Mac OS X Snow Leopard is primarily a smaller update compared to what Leopard was. But it still has some major new enhancements which makes it a must have for any Apple Mac user.
Apple has totally rewritten Finder to make it faster and more useful. They have also added support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 in applications like Mail, Calendar and Address Book. Apple QuickTime X is a major upgrade featuring a brand new user interface.
Apple further claims that Snow Leopard has half the footprint of Leopard. So it would consume less space on the hard disk while installing faster. This is something Microsoft cannot claim with their Windows 7 which is expected to be a monster of an operating system.
