Google Docs now support MS Office 2007 file formats
Google has announced that they have now added support for some new formats.
They have added support for .docx and .xlsx file formats which were introduced with MS Office 2007.
This means that Google Docs users can now import files made in MS Word 2007 and MS Excel 2007.
MS PowerPoint 2007 users would have to wait.
Google Docs already has support for a wide range of file formats including .doc, .odt, .xls, .ods, .ppt, .csv, .html, .txt, .rtf, and others.
Adding support for MS Office 2007 formats is somewhat late. But it is more than welcome!
One thing to remember though. Google Docs converts the files to its own format once they are uploaded. And this can make a mess of your documents if they are using advanced formatting. And there is no way to get back the original file. So, make sure you still keep your documents in their original formats for future usage. Google Docs is not perfect.
