Windows 7 launch date: October 22
Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 would be launched in October this year.
The launch date is set on October 22.
The timing is pretty good as it would enable Microsoft to benefit from the holiday season sales.
This could help the PC industry which is in a slump.
Microsoft said that customers would be able to buy computers preloaded with Windows 7 from October 22.
The company has not revealed the upgrade scheme for customers who purchase a new computer with Vista before the launch of Windows 7.
Analysts believe Microsoft would offer free upgrades to Windows 7 to customers who purchase new machines after August.
Incidentally, the announcement did not do much to Microsoft’ stock price.
Looking at the release candidate edition of Windows 7, it was pretty much expected that the company would release the final version sometime later this year.
