Asus promotes Windows on their Netbooks
Asus and Microsoft are promoting Windows OS on the netbooks through a new website that is named: It’s Better with Windows…
This new marketing campaign is aimed at Linux as the statement from the website states:
“Windows helps you easily get online and connect to your devices and services – without dealing with an unfamiliar environment or major compatibility issues.”
Looks like Microsoft is awfully scared off the potential of Linux in the netbook market. Incidentally, Acer was the first company to target this segment with their EEE PC netbook models.
It’s a shame that they are now joining hands with Microsoft to target Linux in order to promote Windows.
The funny thing about this campaign is that hardware components are more likely to work on Linux out of the box compared to Windows nowadays.
Windows XP needs drivers for almost every new generation hardware component. While Linux support for hardware has improved drastically in the recent years.
