Microsoft criticized for blocking messenger services in Cuba
Cuban journalists have criticized US based software giant for blocking access to their messaging services in the country.
Microsoft recently announced that they are disabling their messenger services in several nations including Cuba, Syria, Iran, Sudan and North Korea.
This was as a result of the US Government’s ban on transfer of licensed software to embargoed countries.
Dharmesh Mehta, director of Windows Live Product Management responded that the ban has been in place since last year but it is just getting into news now.
He said: “This is not a new change, but has only recently received attention.”
Mehta added: “Microsoft supports efforts to ensure that the Internet remains a platform for open, diverse and unimpeded content and commerce.”
