Facebook is apparently blocked in Iran due to polls

US based social networking giant Facebook has revealed that they have been blocked in Iran.

The company said in a statement on the new developments: “We are disappointed to learn of reports that users in Iran may not have access to Facebook.”

Market sources say that Facebook was banned by the ruling government so that rivals cannot use this platform to market themselves online during these polls.

Facebook added: “It is always a shame when countries’ cultural and political concerns lead to limits being placed on the opportunity for sharing and expression that the Internet provides.”

Facebook and other social networks were heavily used by political parties and politicians during the elections in India and of course United States.
