Cisco settles dispute with Free Software Foundation
Cisco Systems has announced that they have now settled their disputes with the Free Software Foundation.
The company revealed that they would now appoint a director to ensure that its product families are in compliance with the terms of free software licenses.
Cisco’s Linksys range of hardware products were the basis of the lawsuit.
FSF had filed a lawsuit against the company after they failed to get Cisco to meet their demands.
The group had then said that Cisco was unwilling to take the necessary steps towards compliance.
Brett Smith, FSF compliance engineer spoke about the new developments: “We’re not out to wreck businesses or make lots of money. We just want compliance. And any company selling free software shouldn’t have any problem providing that.”
