Mozilla Jetpack to make it easy to develop Firefox add-ons
Mozilla has announced the launch of their latest project named Jetpack.
Mozilla Jetpack is essentially an API that enables anyone to create Firefox add-ons.
This technology makes it very easy for interested developers to code provided they have basic web development knowledge.
Interested users can develop new tools using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Mozilla Jetpack is designed to enable addition of new functionalities to the web browser without the need to restart the browser. Mozilla Jetpack is an open source project and everyone is invited to contribute their ideas and code.
This is an important development for the developers considering Google Chrome also plans to support extensions that are developed using similar web technologies. Looks like we might see some cooperation between the two browsers when it comes to third party add-ons.
