Qualcomm announces Plaza Retail
Qualcomm has announced their own mobile applications store named Plaza Retail.
This would be an alternative to the company’s own Brew developer environment which is currently used by Verizon Wireless and some other mobile service providers.
Qualcomm said that this new store would provide applications for a variety of devices powered with different mobile platforms.
It has been designed to host applications that run on Java, BREW, Flash and BlackBerry.
Qualcomm also plans to add support for applications for other platforms like Google Android, Windows Mobile and Palm webOS along with Symbian and LiMo.
Qualcomm said that the goal of this new platform is to allow application retailers to present subscribers with a uniform and easy shopping experience on any capable device.
