Craigslist to remove erotic services section

Web’s most popular classifieds service Craigslist has announced that they are now going to remove its “erotic services” category.

They are also now going to verify all new submissions to “adult services” section before they are made live on the website.

This decision was taken after a masseuse was killed who had advertised on the connected section on Craigslist service.

The service was sued by Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart who claimed that Craigslist was in fact the nation’s biggest source of prostitution.

This is a major development on Craigslist part as they have never pre-screened ads. The operators remove the offending posts only after receiving complaints related to them.

New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo spoke about the new developments: “Rather than work with this office to prevent further abuses, in the middle of the night, Craigslist took unilateral action which we suspect will prove to be half-baked.”
