New YouTube users get matching Google accounts

Google is tightening integration with their video sharing service YouTube.

Any new user who registers an account with YouTube gets a matching account on Google.

As a result, the users would be able to access other Google properties without requiring a separate account.

Google said: “We feel that by jointly connecting accounts, you can take greater advantage of our services both on YouTube and on Google. Especially, as we start to roll out new features in the future that will be powered by Google technology.”

Registering on YouTube is not necessary to view videos. But you do get extra functionality on registering such as access to features like YouTube RealTime.
