RightZoom: Maximize applications on Mac OS X

A lot of Windows users like me get confused while working on the Mac OS X platform when it comes to maximizing the windows.

The zoom button on Mac OS X does not usually behave like the Maximize button on Windows applications.

The behavior differs from application to application and this becomes a nightmarish situation for a lot of users.

RightZoom is a free application for Mac OS X which enables you to customize the functionality of the zoom button.

User gets enough options to set the preferences using this tool. They can program it to maximize all windows or make a list of applications with different settings.

Overall a very handy utility for people who are moving from Windows OS to Mac OS X.

No, the behavior of the zoom button does not “differ from application to application.” Its function was set by the Apple Interface Guidelines when the first Macintosh was produced 25 years ago and it has been the same ever since. Microsoft got it wrong. Get used to it.
