WikiAlarm: Get email alerts when a Wikipedia page is edited

WikiAlarm is a new web service that can be used to stay up to date with page changes on the Wikipedia online encyclopedia.

The service sends email alerts whenever one of the configured pages is edited on the Wikipedia.

The service offers several features including the ability to monitor unlimited number of pages.

This service could be useful for people and companies who have their profile pages on the Wikipedia service so that they can keep a check on any unwanted change taking place.

WikiAlarm claims that they monitor the page 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Alerts can be configured to be delivered to multiple email ids.

The email sent by the service contains all the details of the changes made on the relevant page on Wikipedia.

Overall, a very useful web service for anyone who is a fan of Wikipedia.

Er. You do realise that every page has a built-in RSS feed you can watch.

This appears to be a service for those who can’t or won’t think or read. Which I admit there will always be a large market for.

The nice thing about e-mail, as opposed to RSS, is that you can easily set up server-side auto-forwarding rules to send copies of the notifications to your vast army of meat-puppets, fans, lackeys, PR guys, “stooges,” and members of Parliament whenever an edit takes place, without your even having to lift a finger. You can even make a rule to delete the e-mail after it’s forwarded, so you don’t actually have to read it yourself.
