Google sued for using Android as their mobile platform name

Google has been sued by Erich Specht of Palatine, Illinois who claims Google is infringing on his trademarked Android name.

He operates Android Data Corp. saying that he won the U.S. trademark rights to Android in 2002.

The lawsuit further claims that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has rejected the trademark application filed by Google.

The complaint further said that the usage of the term Android by Google and its partners would lead to deception, confusion and mistake among the consuming public.

He is asking the courts to bar Google from using Android name in addition to at least $2 million in damages.
