Adobe Reader has another critical flaw

Adobe Acrobat continues to remain in news for all the wrong reasons.

Another critical flaw has been discovered in the technology that is widely used around the world.

US-CERT has reported that the Adobe Reader application suffers from a serious flaw that is still not patched.

This latest flaw is related to an error in the “getAnnots()” JavaScript function.

The agency said in a statement: “US-CERT encourages users and administrators to disable JavaScript in Adobe Reader to help mitigate the risk. To disable JavaScript in Adobe Reader, open the General Preferences dialog box. From the Edit-Preferences-JavaScript menu, uncheck ‘Enable Acrobat JavaScript.’”

The report said that the Adobe Reader 8.1.4 and 9.1 for Linux are affected by this flaw. Other versions on other platforms might also be affected.

Adobe has said: “We are currently investigating, and will have an update once we get more information”.
