Apple App Store has now served more than 1 billion applications

Connor Mulcahey has been named the winner of the contest being run by Apple.

Connor Mulcahey downloaded the 1 billionth application from the Apple App Store.

The 13 year old kid wins a $10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule and a MacBook Pro.

The billionth application downloaded was Bump, a contact information swapping application developed by Bump Technologies.

Apple has finally hit the much awaited milestone. They have delivered more than a billion applications from the Apple App Store.

Apple App Store offer software applications for Apple iPod Touch and Apple iPhone.

The company had been running a counter on their website showing the number of applications that have been delivered.

The Apple App Store currently offers more than 25,000 applications to the users of Apple mobile devices.

Incidentally, it has taken the Apple App Store just around nine months to reach this popular milestone.
