Adobe adopts monthly update schedule for their software

Adobe is one of the biggest software publishers for web and print media related applications and they have just acquired their prime rivals Macromedia to become a force to reckon with in the software industry. However, like any other software company, they also face problems with the patches and updates required for their applications.

The company has now decided to adopt the approach recently taken by bigger companies like Microsoft and Oracle, which release their patches and updates on a fixed schedule. As a result, from next year Adobe would be releasing updates to their applications on a monthly basis making it easier for their customers to keep track of the latest patches.

Adobe makes some of the most popular applications being used for web development and print publishing like Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Dreamweaver and of course the Macromedia Flash plug-in and the application. The plug-ins for Acrobat and Flash application have become an essential part of a web browser and to keep them up-to-date is a must for security purposes.

Adobe has however not revealed yet the kind of schedule they would be adopting and when would they start following this new approach. They have however said that they would be intimating about the upcoming patches as Microsoft does before their Patch Tuesday releases.
