Microsoft fined in Germany for fixing charges
German regulators have fined the US based software giant Microsoft for improperly influencing pricing of Microsoft Office suite during a retail promotion.
The fine is of 9 million Euros.
The report from the body said that the company influenced the resale price of the software package in an anticompetitive manner. It referred to two specific editions of MS Office: Office Home & Student 2007.
The agency further stated that the company has accepted the fine.
Microsoft said: “We respect German competition law and are committed to running our business in full compliance with all German laws and regulations. We will use this case as an opportunity to review our internal commercial processes and ensure that we are in full compliance with German law.”
