Facebook addiction is bad for grades

Ohio State University has revealed results of a study which researched the study patterns of Facebook users.

The researchers questioned 219 US undergraduates and graduates about their study practices and general internet use.

They found out that around 65 per cent of Facebook users accessed their account daily. Most of them checked the account frequently to check for new messages or updates.

The report further found out that students who used Facebook had a “significantly” lower grade point average compared to students who did not.

Aryn Karpinski was one of the researchers. She said: “Our study shows people who spend more time on Facebook spend less time studying.”

Facebook had this to say in response: “There is also academic research that shows the benefits of services like Facebook. It’s in the hands of students, in consultation with their parents, to decide how to spend their time.”
