Microsoft launches Office Communicator Web Access client

World’s largest software company Microsoft has launched the Office Communicator Web Access client for corporate users to use while on the move. The client allows users on non-Windows platform to stay in touch with their colleagues via this web based instant messenger client based on the popular AJAX technology.

The company talked about launching such a client while releasing the Live Communications Server 2005. The product was in beta testing since the month of July this year. However, the client comes with no support for voice chat currently. Microsoft faces competition from companies like Yahoo!, AOL, and IBM when it comes to corporate instant messaging solutions and is working hard on getting a stronger hold of the market.

Market experts believe that the market would be growing at around 20% in the coming years and it makes sense for software companies to target corporate users by providing user-friendly IM solutions. Microsoft is also working hard on improving the interoperability to get more users join their services while keeping their existing solutions.

Using this latest product from Microsoft, corporate users can connect simultaneously to IM services from Microsoft’s MSN, America Online, and Yahoo. It is available for free to users who have already licensed Live Communications Server 2005.
