Conficker comes back to life with an update
Conficker worm is back in news as security experts have said that it has started updating itself with some new mysterious data.
The update system has delivered encrypted software to compromised machines.
No information is yet available on what sort of data is being supplied to the machines infected with this worm.
Experts had previously expected to see some activity on April 1. Apparently, the mechanism was delayed somewhat and it has begun now.
There are no confirmed figures on the numbers of machines infected with Conficker currently connected to the web. Some sources say that the number is at least 3-4 million.
Ivan Macalintal from Trend Research had this to say on a company blog: “The Conficker/Downad P2P communications is now running in full swing.”
