Google App Engine updated with more powers and features

Google has updated their App Engine platform to make it more capable.

Google representative Rajen Sheth said in a statement that they want to make it possible for companies to host software applications in Google’s data centers.

This can be made possible while allowing the companies to keep a complete control over their data.

He said: “Businesses typically have thousands of little applications that each department uses and that need to be maintained. It typically takes a lot of time and money.” Google App Engine can help them control the expenses.

The new updates to the Google App Engine allow the developers to write their programs in Java and deploy them directly to the Web using the Google Web Toolkit.

This enables Google to become a viable alternative to rivals in the market including Amazon and force.com.

Market analyst Rebecca Wetteman spoke about this new development: “What Google has recognized is that customers in the cloud space want to have the flexibility to explore different environments as they evolve. In principle this allows them to do that.”
