Sitting idle with nothing to do, and no sleep around, I thought of posting about this small thing I did few days back to make my Blog searching easier. If you are into Blogs and Google, you would have already done it or don’t care to do it. It’s not that complicated after all!
I love Google Deskbar . It’s easy and it’s fun. You don’t need to open a browser. It acts like a dictionary. Hell, it can even do psychotic mathematical calculations for you. But the best thing about this Google product I like is the flexibility it provides. For a change Google allows you to insert your own code to do custom searching. So flexible it is that you can use it to search on non-Google Search Engines. I use HotBot sometimes and I search my Blog for old posts. And now I can use Google Deskbar to do these searches. It’s easy and it’s fun.
The search strings to be used in ‘Customized searches’ option:
For HotBot: [ignore the link]
http://www.hotbot.com/default.asp?query={1}
og: [ignore the link and replace the URL with yours
http://blog.sushubh.com/index.php?submit=search&s={1}
even define shortcuts for these searches. Nothing rocket science about it I know. But I had to make a post.
Here is a screenie. Posting a lot of them nowadays. Perhaps coz i got myself a upgrade in webspace.

Click for a large shot. I searched for *Google* on my Blog.
Everything is cool. Except for the fact that Google Deskbar uses Internet Explorer rendering engine. Now that spoils the fun…
