Amazon Elastic MapReduce announced

Amazon has announced yet another addition to their cloud computing range of services.

The latest product is named Amazon Elastic MapReduce.

Amazon spoke about this new offering:

Amazon Elastic MapReduce is a web service that enables businesses, researchers, data analysts, and developers to easily and cost-effectively process vast amounts of data. It utilizes a hosted Hadoop framework running on the web-scale infrastructure of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).

The company added that this service would enable developers to focus on data rather than managing the Hadoop clusters and the networks powering them.
