U.S. Library of Congress gets on YouTube and iTunes
The U.S. Library of Congress has announced that they have now started posting audio content on Apple iTunes.
They are soon going to start uploading content from their archives on Google owned video sharing service YouTube.
The aim is to make it easier for the regular web users to get access to their material.
Matt Raymond, the library’s director of communications spoke about the new developments: “Our broad strategy is to ‘fish where the fish are,’ and to use the sites that give our content added value — in the case of iTunes, ubiquity, portability, etc.”.
They are already using Flickr to post images and photos from their archives.
Incidentally, the library also has an account on Twitter which is pretty active. They are working with Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo and blip.tv for expanding the availability of their content.
