Twitter reveals plans to generate revenues

Micro-blogging web service Twitter has revealed some of their plans to start generating revenues.

The developers said that they are planning to offer a paid account to corporate users with extra functionalities.

Twitter is currently free for all. It is hugely popular online and has users including US President Barack Obama.

It is also heavily used by companies to connect with their users. Dell is one of the high profile users of Twitter.

Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter spoke about their plans: “We think there will be opportunities to provide services to commercial entities that help them get even more value out of Twitter. If these services are valuable to companies, we think they may want to pay for them.”

Despite the popularity, it has yet to generate any revenue for the investors. The company reportedly declined a $500 million acquisition offer by social networking service Facebook.
