Twitter updates user profile pages with search engines in mind perhaps

TechCrunch has reported that popular micro-blogging service Twitter has changed the user profile pages.

The changes are not visual as they have been made on the Title tag of the HTML pages which makes up user pages.

As a result, the title tag now contains the user name along with the full name of the user on the Twitter service.

The difference is more clear with an example…

Earlier it used to be: Twitter / BarackObama
Now it is: Barack Obama (BarackObama) on Twitter

The reason behind this minor modification is pretty huge. Having relevant keywords in the title tag improves the search engine optimization of the web page making it more likely to come on top results for the relevant keyword.

TechCrunch said that the change is already influencing the search results in a big way. LinkedIn is another service which dominates search results for names of individuals. Facebook has done something similar with public profile pages. And now Twitter…
