Internet Explorer 8 adoption is slow

Microsoft has just launched the stable edition of Internet Explorer 8.

The launch has been pretty low key affair compared to how Mozilla launched the version 3 of Firefox web browser.

As a result, not many web users have updated to the Internet Explorer 8 edition.

It has however overtaken Google Chrome in terms of market share.

StatCounter Global Stats claimed that usage of IE 8 accounted for only 1.56 percent of global Internet traffic on Friday.

The reviews of Internet Explorer 8 are also pretty mixed. Some users are complaining about the problems arising in the new edition… while others are pretty impressed with the improvements.

Rest of the web users are continuing to stick with Firefox or Chrome or Opera or Safari!

Downloaded IE 8 couple of days ago, very disappointed, it’s so slow!! Plus it’s not very stable. Wish I had stayed with IE 7.

I downloaded Internet Explorer 8 and find it very slow & heavy. I am thinking of going back to Internet Explorer 7.

They keep bloating their software with useless features just because Firefox or Mozilla boasts them, what did we expect to be the result? The program takes forever to load, forget about having multiple instances open. And they keep adding more and more menubars to microsoft products – pretty soon they’ll take over the whole screen! IE7 with tabs disabled was great, it launched in the blink of an eye. Plus you could still switch to the classic “File-Edit-View” menubar. The dynamic icon-driven menus take up too much space, and you can’t develop ‘elastic memory’ or whatever it’s called – where you can find what you want based on relative shapes and sizes of the words on the menubars. They did add a ‘privacy mode’ to address the REAL reason people use firefox – to not get caught on naughty websites!

I downloaded IE8 thinking it would be bigger and better and all that has happened is that it takes quite some time to open (reminds me of when computers first were popular and you sat and tapped your fingers waiting for it to open!) I know some techs are saying it might be caused by having too many add-ons and an entire cleanup of the computer would be beneficial. I, for one, have done all this even though I changed NOTHING else prior to installing IE8 and still slow. Is there a way to reinstall IE7?

Download Internet 7 and save it; then uninstall Internet 8; then install Internet 7. I agree; Internet 8 is slow and it is a bust for me!
