Open Cloud Platform launched by Sun Microsystems
Sun Microsystems has announced the launch of its own cloud computing platform named Open Cloud Platform.
Sun Microsystems’ Open Cloud Platform is powered by Java, MySQL, OpenSolaris, and Open Storage software technologies.
The company also announced Sun Cloud which is their public cloud-computing service designed for developers and startups.
Sun further announced that they are going to release a core set of Open APIs.
Market analyst Al Hilwa spoke about Sun: “Sun still holds a lot of credibility among developers because of Java.”
The company is said to be in talks with IBM over a possible acquisition deal.
