Microsoft starts talking about Silverlight 3

Microsoft is likely to talk about their upcoming update to Silverlight technology at the upcoming Mix09 conference in Las Vegas this week.

Microsoft Silverlight 3 could be a topic of discussion at this event along with Visual Studio 2010 IDE, the Azure Services Platform for cloud computing and Expression Web.

Market analyst Rob Sanfilippo said in a statement: “Mainly, I’m looking for Silverlight 3 and Expression 3 announcements. I think that’s going to be the highlight.”

Microsoft Silverlight was first launched in 2007. The current version is Microsoft Silverlight 2.

It is currently the primary challenger to Adobe Flash technology on the web.

Microsoft Silverlight 3 is likely feature support for H.264 video along with GPU hardware acceleration.
