OpenSUSE project moves to eight-month release cycle
Ubuntu developers release a new version every six months.
Now, OpenSuse developers are moving to a eight month release cycle.
They have for now released a roadmap for the 11.2 release along with the schedule for the next several releases.
OpenSUSE developers said that they believe eight months is a good time to ensure the release of a solid release as compared to six months for their rivals.
Project representative Stephan Kulow said: “To give us something to plan around, we would like to propose a fixed release schedule. As a six-month release schedule is not something we consider feasible to maintain high-quality standards, we are proposing a fixed eight-month schedule.”
OpenSUSE 11.2 release has been codenamed Fichte and it would be released in November this year.
