The great great Gmail outage of 2009?!
Google’s webmail service Gmail went down for a couple of hours. It was down for enough people to get into the news.
Twitter was full of activity from people who could not access their accounts any more.
Gmail Site Reliability Manager Acacio Cruz spoke about the issue on the company blog: “We know that for many of you this disrupted your working day. We’re really sorry about this, and we did do everything to restore access as soon as we could.”
He added: “Obviously we’re never happy when outages occur, but we would like to stress that this is an unusual occurrence.”
The company is now investigating the cause of this unexpected downtime which became a major problem for the users of their services.
Downtimes like these are the major worries why some people still do not like cloud computing services.
