Adobe has a warning for Acrobat users

Software giant Adobe has issued a warning to the users of their Acrobat range of products.

The company said that a critical security flaw exists in both Acrobat and Acrobat Reader applications.

Adobe is working on issuing a fix for Adobe Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 by March 11.

They would launch patches for the previous editions of the applications at a later stage.

The company is suggesting that all users should use caution while opening files from unreliable sources to avoid getting affected by the vulnerability.

Security companies have confirmed that the flaws are already being targeted in the wild and they are likely to intensify in the coming weeks.

Kevin Haley, a Symantec Security Response director had this to say: “We’ve seen it used in only a few small places, so it tells us it’s a targeted attack and someone is not trying to use it in a widespread way.”
