Microsoft to test delivery of updates to Windows 7 beta users

US based software giant Microsoft has said that they would soon start delivering test updates to the users of Windows 7 Beta.

These updates are not really updates as they would be similar files already available on the system.

The company said that the tests are being conducted to see how Windows 7 would handle the delivery of actual updates in a real world scenario.

Microsoft emphasized on the fact that the updates are fake and they are not going to add any features or fixes.

A company representative said in a blog post: “Starting February 24, we will be releasing up to 5 test updates to PCs running the Windows 7 Beta (Build 7000) via Windows Update. These updates allow us to test and verify our ability to deliver and manage the updating of Windows 7. We typically verify servicing scenarios during a beta.”

People running their Windows 7 installations with automatic updates would also get the notifications for these updates and they would have to manually install them.
