Mozilla Firefox 1.5 is out
Mozilla Foundation has finally released the final version of the Mozilla Firefox 1.5 web browser. This major update to this open source browser comes a year after the first stable version was launched worldwide. This Firefox 1.5 saw several release candidate builds and a few fake launches and it has now been released finally. The open source organization has now set it eyes on the feature set for Version 2.0.
This latest update brings more stability, better support for web standards and JavaScript, usability enhancements and support for newer image standards. The rendering engine has also been comprehensively updated to support latest technologies. For security point of view, Mozilla Firefox 1.5 comes with better pop-up blocking techniques and a progressive auto-update mechanism.
However, major changes to the user interface are only expected to arrive in the next major update in the form of Mozilla Firefox 2.0. As per the information available on the Firefox Wiki, the targeted date for the launch of Firefox 2 is expected to be around July 27, 2006. however, contributors to the code believe this to be a rather ambitious target.
The browser has been download more than 100 million times from the official sources and is in use by an estimated 45 million individual users.
