Mac OS X Snow Leopard would load printer drivers on demand?
AppleInsider has reported that Apple is planning a special mechanism to load printer drivers on their upcoming Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
The report claims that the OS would not include gigabytes worth of drivers for printers available in the wild.
Instead, the OS would check for the connected printers on the machine and network to download a driver pack as required by the installed system.
Apple would be using their Software Update to install the new drivers as the Mac OS X Snow Leopard find new printers attached to the machine.
Experts believe that this alone could trim the space taken by an installed copy of the operating system.
However, this could become a painful update for users who are not always connected to the internet.
