Kaspersky investigating the attack on their website

Moscow-based security software maker Kaspersky has announced that they have hired security experts to investigate the breach of its US website.

Market reports say that the same group of hacker also managed to infiltrate the website of another Antivirus provider BitDefender.

BitDefender has responded that a partner site of their was hacked and they are now helping them investigate that hack. It added: “This was an unfortunate event and while we sympathize with the sites that were affected, BitDefender was not one of those sites.”

Kaspersky added about their own incident that no sensitive or customer data was compromised. The company has hired the services of David Litchfield to conduct an independent audit of the systems involved.

It’s a PR nightmare for any security related company to have their own sites compromised especially when they sell products promising that the customer’s own systems would be safe from such attacks.
