Microsoft to further tweak UAC feature in Windows 7
Microsoft has announced that they are going to further tweak the User Account Control feature in the upcoming Windows 7 edition.
The feature in its current form has been criticized by security experts. The company had made available a beta edition last month which has been downloaded by millions of users worldwide.
Microsoft has said that the default settings will remain but they plan to further strengthen protections around the UAC feature itself.
Microsoft said in a blog post: “With this feedback and a lot more we are going to deliver two changes to the Release Candidate that we’ll all see. First, the UAC control panel will run in a high integrity process, which requires elevation. That was already in the works before this discussion… Second, changing the level of the UAC will also prompt for confirmation.”
