Facebook has become one of the most popular social networking services on the web.
Prime rivals include MySpace and Orkut.
The service has just turned 5 years old as it aims to become an even bigger part of a web user’s life.
Facebook is celebrating by offering its users a mystery virtual gift, such as bongo drums or beer.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg wrote in a blog post about this happy moment: “As we celebrate Facebook’s 5th birthday, we continue to work hard to evolve Facebook and make it as simple as possible to communicate with and understand the people and entities that matter to you.”
The company has also launched an updated edition of Facebook App for the Apple iPhone.
