Google launches Google Latitude mobile service

Search engine giant Google has launched an upgrade to Google Maps for mobile devices.

This new service is named Google Latitude.

The service is designed to allow people to track the exact location of friends or family through their mobile devices.

It can show their location and it can also be used to contact them through other Google services like Google Talk and Google Mail.

They had released the beta edition of this service last year.

Vic Gundotra, vice president of engineering with Google’s mobile team spoke about this new service: “Now you can do things like see if your spouse is stuck in traffic on the way home from work, notice that a buddy is in town for the weekend or take comfort in knowing that a loved one’s flight landed safely, despite bad weather. It’s a fun way to feel close to the people you care about.”
