Windows 7 to have six versions?
Engadget has reported that Windows 7 when it is released would have as many as six separate editions.
These versions are:
Windows 7 Starter,
Windows 7 Home Basic,
Windows 7 Home Premium,
Windows 7 Professional,
Windows 7 Enterprise,
Windows 7 Ultimate
This is pretty similar to the Windows Vista lineup.
Windows 7 Starter is aimed at the ultra low budget market and it would only allow the users to run three applications simultaneously.
Windows 7 Home Basic is likely to be targeted in emerging markets.
Windows 7 Home Premium would be the primary edition for the consumer market.
Windows 7 Professional would be targeted at the corporate customers.
Windows 7 Enterprise would be for corporations as well and would have some additional features.
Windows 7 Ultimate would be for consumer market who wants the best of both worlds.
