Google Gears support in WordPress is pretty basic right now
I am amazed at how Gmail uses Gears for offline email capabilities.
We have been using Gears on WordPress since a long time. I dug into the WordPress documentation to find out how much functionality is provided by Gears if you are using it.
Right now, it’s not much. Gears on WordPress.org is only designed to cache or keep a copy of commonly-used Javascript and CSS files on your computer.
This means that the backend pages load a bit faster while blogging. Just that.
We hope that the WordPress developers expand the Gears functionality to support much more than that.
On WordPress.com, Gears is used to do much more. It caches the images from galleries and do much more than that.
