Microsoft launches Language Interface Packs for Indian languages

US based software giant Microsoft has announced the launch of Language Interface Packs for Indian languages.

These customized language computing solutions are developed for the end user of their applications like Windows OS and MS Office.

The company said that these latest packs would bring support for 12 Indian languages.

Microsoft has launched these Captions Language Interface Pack for Hindi, Malayalam, Oriya, and Tamil.

Windows Live is also now available in seven Indian languages.

The company has also showcased a version of their recently made available Windows 7 Beta in Hindi language.

Ravi Venkatesan, chairman, Microsoft India spoke about these new releases: “Each one of us knows of at least a few people who would benefit from ICT if language wasn’t a barrier, our parents, the neighborhood grocery store owner, the policeman at the local station, the farmer you see when you travel to the villages, the list is endless. The language barrier is an added challenge towards providing access to information to a huge number of Indians, and thereby having them participate in India’s growth curve.”
