Opera Browser 8.51 is out

Opera Software ASA has released a minor security update to their browser product offering Opera Browser. The latest stable release is now Opera 8.51 and it fixes the security issue in the Flash Player as discovered by the security company Secunia. In this latest update, Opera Browser 8.51 now ships with Macromedia Flash version 7r61.

As per a statement issued by the company, the release is a recommended security upgrade for Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris users, because it updates Opera’s wrapper script to not run commands included with URLs passed from other applications. This fixes another bug reported by Secunia.

The company has also mentioned that the update would result in a better and improved experience for users of Mac OS X with Japanese systems with Java installed. The update is also fully compatible with language files created for 8.50. The changelog also adds that the browser would now ship with Answers.com search option as an addition to its search box.

There are also some stability issues fixed in the integration of Adobe Acrobat 7.0.5 plug-in.
