Google Gmail to get more exciting features
Cnet is reporting that Google is working on adding some more cool features to their popular webmail service Gmail.
Some of the features mentioned in the report include:
More Themes: Gmail Product Manager Todd Jackson has stated that they are working on bringing more skins to Google Gmail. The company introduced the theming capabilities last year though they have not added any additional theme since then. He said: “We want to keep adding Themes. People like it. We don’t know exactly how we’ll do that yet. The 30 Themes that we chose were hand-designed to look great in Gmail.” They just might make available a system that enables the user to pick his own color elements for his own Gmail box.
Google is not working on a Gmail application for the iPhone. Apple iPhone already has a mail client that works fine but lacks the threading support of Gmail. Google has already made available a web based edition of Gmail optimized for the iPhone screen.
Google is also planning to upgrade the quality of video chat through Gmail. They are using their own plugin for this feature which would enable them to offer more features. They are aiming to bring VGA and HD quality video chats depending upon the connectivity of the user.
Google Gmail Contact Manager would be updated. Google would add a new feature that would enable users to remove duplicates in their address book. This would fix one major issue with this feature of Gmail.
The search engine giant is also considering enhancing the attachment limits on emails sent through Gmail. They might have something special in store for us in this regard.

Definitely Themes is a nice feature, adding customization support would be great.
Also I would like to have one more improvement on keyboard shortcuts. Currently we can “Move to Trash” using a shortcut, but that will move the complete conversion on the email thread. However we would like to have a shortcut just to delete the current email message of a thread.

Great news for Gmail addicts, like me.
Personalizing the theme such as enabling the user to pick his/her own color elements would be nice if it plans will push through.
