Downandup worm still hitting millions of PC users

Microsoft released a patch outside their regular cycle for a security vulnerability which affected its service service.

A worm designed to target this vulnerability is still in the wild affecting millions of Windows users.

The worm is known by several names including Downadup and Conflicker.

A Microsoft representative spoke about the problem: “Because the vulnerability is potentially wormable on those older versions of Windows [XP and earlier], we’re encouraging customers to test and deploy the update as soon as possible.”

F-Secure’s Toni Kovunen had this to say on their research: “The number of Downandup infections are skyrocketing based on our calculations. From an estimated 2.4 million infected machines to over 8.9 million during the last four days. That’s just amazing. The situation with Downandup is not getting better. It’s getting worse.”

First: for those who know my name, I’m the real CyberFenix000, and I’m posting to help on the DownandUp worm. I can’t go around the internet and give away advice for fre, therefore I’ll just will give insight on the worm and how to stop it, if someone that knows about computers read this, you can try to create an “anti-virus”. The worm enter your computer (and more importantly, it dwells into the programs) and it is almost not only hard to detect, but to get out because it uses an algorithm in which the it “deciphers” itself through a random number generator! so it’s detection and deletion is hard. For those who like to erase these kind of worms for the excitment, I have an advice, use a random number generator to “inflitrate” the worm, the worm will therefore try to change and just keep that up (thnk of it as a diverson) meanwhile a program for “fight it” and acctually crack into the worm! (I don’t know about you, but lastly I have purposely downloaded the worm into my computer and test my programs, one of my best programs actually mutes through by incorporating itself into the worm, another one just pretty much destroys the host computer by destroying everything systematicly -starting with worms and viruses and ending in the systematic program.)
