Windows 7 Beta gets first update
Microsoft has just released the Patch Tuesday updates for the month of January 2009.
The software giant has also released the first patch for their recently made available Windows 7 Beta.
The company said that this patch is to fix a flaw that shaves several seconds of audio from any MP3 file that’s edited.
These include the files which are modified automatically as users connect to the Internet.
Microsoft said in the support document published about this problem: “Without action on your part, all MP3 files that have large headers in your Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center libraries are likely to lose some audio.”
The company is also recommending that the users should backup their data including MP3 files before installing Windows 7 Beta on their machines.
If they have already done that, the company suggests disabling metadata automatic updates in Windows Media Player.
The company has however not updated this edition of Windows 7 with the major bug that has been fixed in their older editions of Windows.
Microsoft stated: “We provide security updates for beta versions of Windows through Windows Update for Critical issues only. So the vulnerability will be addressed in the next public release for Windows 7.”
